More ladies pulling the trigger on the range
August is National Shooting Sports Month, and a study is pointing out that it won’t just be men and boys putting rounds down range.
At least that’s what the steady rise in women joining the shooting sports scene is depicting.
According to a study by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the number of female gun owners jumped 44 percent over the last 10 years.
Zach Snow, a spokesman for NSSF, says there has been “huge growth” in female gun enthusiasts.
“As more women are getting welcomed into the space,” he says, “or feel the need to be more confident or empowered by getting a firearm, or a handgun, and also just the amazing efforts that a lot of the women’s groups have made.”
Snow attributes that growth to 2nd Amendment supporters and gun enthusiasts welcoming females. There has also been a growth in shooting clubs and groups such as Well-Armed Woman and A Girl and a Gun, he adds.
