Members from five states were represented at the third annual AWA Ohio State Shoot, held recently at The Cardinal Shooting Center in Central Ohio. The Cardinal facility offers a world class campground and cabins, plus a national/international site for Trap and Sporting Clays. It has four large pistol ranges used by USPSA, Shoot Sig, Steel Challenge/falling steel, Pyramid Air and many more organizations throughout the season.
The event consisted of six training sessions (1.5- or 3-hour sessions) from which participants selected based on their interest and skill levels. Several guest instructors from across Ohio participated, volunteering their time and expertise as they value and appreciate AWA and its members. Although it was a HOT September day for Range Day, attendees experienced an excellent training event with lots of additional lunch time give aways. New friendships were made, gear was assessed and evaluated, with consideration given for possible ‘new’ additions realized.
Members were invited to “rank” sessions as they liked – from newer/beginner sessions to intermediate and also more experienced shooters. In the “Manufacturers’ Bay”, members were able to try a variety of firearm brands/models to find the ‘perfect’ fit or just their next purchase.
A fun meet and greet was held Friday evening with more than 11 vendors joining in the fun. The evening included socializing, a light dinner and ‘give aways’. The full day on the range was followed by a fun member cookout ….girl talk, meeting new friends and discussions about the awesome training that took place around a fab campfire.
