AWA partners with LE and Project Child Safe in SLC community initiative

Armed Women of America’s Jordan Valley, UT Chapter recently partnered with local law enforcement and other community groups to help promote Project ChildSafe and offer resources and tools to promote firearm safety and secure storage in their communities. 

At the group’s November meeting, a representative of the West Jordan Police Department was the guest speaker featuring the Project ChildSafe initiative. The Jordan Valley, UT Armed Women of America Chapter meets at Legacy Shooting Center The meeting included a gun lock distribution event, and a discussion about safe firearms storage, suicide awareness and best practices when engaging with law enforcement. Everyone went home with a gun lock and Project ChildSafe resources to share with friends and family.

Later in the week, AWA Board President Michelle Camp joined in a press conference kicking off the Project Child Safe Salt Lake countywide initiative with community groups and local law enforcement and was featured in the local news media (see below.)

Project ChildSafe is a non-political initiative of the National Shooting Sports Foundation to promote responsible gun ownership and secure gun storage with a goal of helping to prevent firearm-related accidents, deaths and suicide through education and awareness.
